Chava Rosenfarb Poetry Collection

Chava Rosenfarb arrived in Montreal in February 1950 as a published poet with her acclaimed volume Di balade fun nekhtikn vald (The Ballad of Yesterday? Forest). A Holocaust survivor, she was liberated from Bergen Belsen in 1945 and later lived in Belgium with her family, all survivors. In 1950, Montreal publisher Harry Hershman sponsored their move to Canada. Settling in Montreal, Rosenfarb translated most poems from Yiddish to English. This collection follows her life chronologically, from poems written in the Lodz ghetto as a girl to mature works from her Canadian years.
